Join us for the V International Scientific Conference “Science, Education and Innovation in the Arts”, taking place on 30–31 October 2025 at the Dimitar Georgiev Gallery in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

This year’s edition will focus on the intersection of art, education, and research, highlighting innovative approaches in artistic practice, management, and pedagogy. The conference will bring together academics, educators, artists, and young researchers from Bulgaria and abroad to exchange ideas and explore the evolving role of science and innovation in the arts.

The V International Scientific Conference “Science, Education and Innovation in the Arts” represents the next stage in the ongoing academic initiative of the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Assen Diamandiev” – Plovdiv, dedicated to exploring the evolving relationship between science, education, and the arts.

Building on the experience of its previous editions, the conference aims to create a dynamic academic environment that brings together researchers, educators, and practitioners from diverse artistic and scientific fields. Its focus is on the theoretical and applied dimensions of innovation in art education, management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The event encourages the exchange of knowledge, methodologies, and best practices across artistic disciplines - from performing and visual arts to design and cultural management, while promoting dialogue between academia, culture, and technology. Through this synergy, the conference contributes to the sustainable development of the creative and educational sectors in Bulgaria and beyond.

Proceedings are peer-reviewed and published in a scientific volume indexed by NACID (National Center for Information and Documentation, Bulgaria), and indexed in Zenodo, CEEOL and RePec.

Prof. Toni Shekerdzieva-Novak, PhD

Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Assen Diamandiev” – Plovdiv, Bulgaria

Prof. Toni Shekerdzieva-Novak is a professor at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Assen Diamandiev” – Plovdiv and served as its Rector between 2020 and 2024. An accomplished opera performer and musicologist, her repertoire includes leading roles in operas by Telemann, Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Leoncavallo, Wolf-Ferrari, and many others. She is particularly devoted to the works of Bulgarian composers, being the first performer of several contemporary pieces.

In 2005, she realized the first complete Bulgarian performance of Frédéric Chopin’s Op. 74, and in 2007 earned her PhD in Musicology with a dissertation on “The Vocal Lyricism of Chopin’s Op. 74: Phonetic Problems in Relation to Performance.”

She has served as Head of the Department of Singing at the National School of Music and Dance “Dobrin Petkov” (since 1995) and has lectured in classical singing and vocal pedagogy at the New Bulgarian University and Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski.”

Dr. Angel Marinov

Agricultural University – Plovdiv, Bulgaria

Dr. Angel Marinov was born in Plovdiv and graduated in Slavonic Philology (Czech Language) from Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski.” He later completed a postgraduate qualification in Film Studies at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov” and obtained a PhD with a dissertation titled “The Specificity of Dialogic Speech in Film and Its Translation.”

He currently heads the Language Training Section at the Department of European and Programmes Studies (DEPS) of the Agricultural University – Plovdiv. His academic interests lie at the intersection of linguistics and film studies, with a focus on the theory and practice of film translation and the linguistic dimensions of cinematic dialogue.

Prof. Viorel Agheana, PhD

University of Bucharest – Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Romania

Prof. Viorel Agheana holds a PhD in Educational Sciences and is a member of the Department of Special Psychopedagogy at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Bucharest, where he has lectured since 2013. His fields of expertise include speech therapy, research methodology, child rights, and inclusive education.

With over 15 years of experience as a teacher and speech therapist, he has participated in numerous national and international projects as both coordinator and researcher. Prof. Agheana is an expert for UNICEF and coordinator of the Master’s programme “Psychopedagogy of Inclusive Schooling (PpSI)” at the University of Bucharest. His research covers language disorders, special education, and inclusive learning practices, combining theoretical depth with practical applicability.
